社區(qū)大學(xué)“格林德爾”迎來了新學(xué)期，由Jeff（喬爾·麥克哈爾 Joel McHale 飾）領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的七人學(xué)習(xí)小組一同選修了生物課，卻因為選課限制，小組成員之一的Pierce被排除在外，這件事很快就引起了小組的分化危機(jī)。然而等著他們七人的是更大的危機(jī)：格林德爾學(xué)院的經(jīng)費被切斷，學(xué)校陷入了一貧如洗的境地。為了節(jié)約經(jīng)費，院長讓疑似患有精神病的昌擔(dān)任保安，埋下了一顆危險的炸彈。
與此同時，好基友Troy和Abed終于宣布同居，小組成員一同來到他們的新居作客，Jeff卻無意中創(chuàng)造了“六個獨立的平行空間”，在六個不同的空間里，七人有著截然不同的命運。這究竟是Abed的幻想，還是真實的存在？
